40th ANNUAL United Associated NHRA SUPER-NATIONALS.

The Transportation Technologies Management department was proud to offer an opportunity for our students to go to the NHRA Super-Nationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway in Englishtown New Jersey. The US Army provide free tickets for all our students and we provided the transportation.


The trip allowed our students to see what it must be like for a professional dragster team to compete in a nationally televised event. Students got to see what it took to be a technician for a team from adjusting the clutch, to rebuilding the heads after each run. For most of our students this was their first time at a “real” drag race and their reaction to the noise and action was amazing. To see a car approach speeds of 330 miles per hours is a sight to behold for anyone, but for our students who some have never driven a car it proved to spark their interest in engine performance. It also showed them how important it is to understand what a good education can do for them.
