the transportation.The trip allowed our students to see what it must be like for a professional dragster team to compete in a nationally televised event. Students got to see what it took to be a technician for a team from adjusting the clutch, to rebuilding the heads after each run. For most of our students this was their first time at a “real” drag race and their reaction to the noise and action was amazing. To see a car approach speeds of 330 miles per hours is a sight to behold for anyone, but for our students who some have never driven a car it proved to spark their interest in engine performance. It also showed them how important it is to understand what a good education can do for them.
